A ‘rather good muse’ already!

Today I had a quick walk across Birmingham, just to find my commute bearings a little. Thankfully it looks like I’ll be able to traverse the city centre (Jewellery Quarter to Digbeth) in around 30-35 minutes! Some good exercise each day, too!

Whilst I was there, I had a quick drool over the new monitor purchased for my desk: a 22″ Samsung 225BW. Whilst it’s not as nice as the 215TW I’ve got at home, it’s most-certainly going to be a nice monitor to work with on a daily basis.

I had a fairly lengthy chat with Jon (the current student) and somewhere in the muddle of topics, we began talking about the VoIP telephony system currently in-service there. He was considering ways in which it could be improved, and I quickly pointed-out the possibility of utilising the multitude of Cisco phones with Cisco CallManager Express, loaded onto one of the existing routers.

Lo and behold, I find an e-mail (by the time I’d wandered home) in my inbox, entitled ‘Cisco CME at Redditch’. So I guess I’m already proving to be at-least a little useful. Here’s hoping I’ll get to work on the phone systems a little more in the coming months! :)

Cisco reading

I’ve got a huge amount of reading ahead of me in the next two (and a bit) weeks. My CCNP 1 and CCNP 2 online exams, as well as the University exams for the corresponding modules (the questions being merely a rip from the online Cisco material, of course) command a mind-numbing barrage of reading.

If it wasn’t for the following websites (TFW), I’d have gone quite mad (GQM) by now. Cisco don’t half use some evil acronyms (SEA), you know.

UK Bass Radio
D’n'B Radio
Bass Drive

Alas, it’s time to stop procrastinating (TTSP) and continue reading the fine material (RTFM) as provided by Cisco!
